Reading comes first, because Polish makes that easy
Polish is spelled almost exactly as it is said — far more consistently than English. Once you know that sz is one sound and that the stress lands on the second-to-last syllable, you can read any Polish word correctly, including ones you have never seen and do not understand.
That is why the course starts there. Being able to pronounce a word is what lets you learn it by ear afterwards, instead of memorising it off a page and mispronouncing it for years.
Grammar in the order you need it
Polish has seven cases, and no beginner needs all seven. You need the instrumental the moment you introduce yourself, the accusative for almost every ordinary verb, and the genitive once you start saying what there is not. The rest can wait, and here it does.
Every grammar point arrives attached to sentences you would actually say, because endings stick when they come with a use and evaporate when they come as a table.
Exercises that grade Polish, not strings
The grader knows what Polish looks like. It tells a missing ą from a wrong word, accepts a legitimate alternative answer, and explains which ending you should have used rather than just marking you down.

Questions people ask
How long does it take to learn Polish?
For everyday conversation, several months of regular practice. Polish is genuinely harder than Spanish or Italian for an English speaker — the cases and consonant clusters are real work — but it is also far more regular than English, and the reading comes almost free.
Is Polish harder than Russian?
About the same difficulty, with the work in different places. Polish spelling is easier because it uses the Latin alphabet and is phonetically consistent; Polish pronunciation is harder because of the consonant clusters. The case systems are comparable.
